COVID-19 Update


With the recent unprecedented events related to COVID-19, the First District Staff and its members’ work routines have and will continue to be disrupted for the near future. As we collectively move ahead over the next few weeks, the First District will be trying to do our part to protect the health and safety of our staff, Governing Body and membership.

To begin, the First District Governing Body’s meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, 2020 has been cancelled. The Governing Body will meet in June in conjunction with our planned “Open House/Annual Picnic”.

Regarding Office Hours and Staff Travel, presently the office will continue to be open and operate under normal business hours. However, Staff has been instructed not to travel and have face-to-face public/private interaction for the next few weeks. During this time, most work should be able to occur via phone, text, email and regular mail.  Please continue to reach out to us as normal.  If you do not have our emails or phone numbers, please visit for our contact information.

We will continue to follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the State of South Dakota.  We encourage you all to maintain your health and safety by taking various preventative measures including practicing social distancing, monitoring your health, frequent hand washing, and staying home. 

It is important to remember that we are still open for business and here to serve our membership. How that occurs will be a little different than normal but will still be conducted in a professional and timely manner. While many of us are in uncharted territory, I believe in this case that an ounce of prevention is truly worth a pound of cure.  Please stay informed, stay healthy and together we will weather this storm.
