The 2015 SD Planner’s Association (SDPA) Conference will be held at the Ramada Inn & Conference Center in Mitchell on October 28th & 29th. This year’s conference is intended to address day-to-day issues faced by planners and land use decision makers on a regular basis. Joanne Garnett is a nationally recognized planner that will be a featured presenter on both Wednesday and Thursday mornings. On Wednesday, a tour of Mitchell (by bus) will be sandwiched by presentations regarding joint jurisdictional planning issues and an afternoon round-table style presentation by zoning staff from large and small jurisdictions regarding how they have found to most efficiently (and legally) operate their offices, as well as pit-falls they have encountered. After a presentation by the keynote speaker again on Thursday morning, the conference will wrap up with another presentation by Jack Hieb and Zach Peterson to help summarize what they
have learned and what planning and zoning officials/board members should take from the last year’s worth of litigation.
Registration for the event is open now. The cost is $80 for SDPA members and $100 for non members and will include two breakfast and two noon meals as well as one evening appetizer bar. For more information regarding this year’s conference contact Luke at the First District office or visit the SDPA website.
